Join us for a celebratory picnic at Korokoro Gateway to mark the anniversary of 200 years since the first Christian service in New Zealand.
The occasion is at the same date and place of the first Presbyterian service on New Zealand soil, which was lead by Rev. John Macfarlane in 1840.
Bring your family for a relaxed BYO afternoon tea, entertainment and a visit to the Early Settlers Museum special display. If it’s wet, the venue will be Knox Church, Lower Hutt.
Here's what'll be happening and when:
2pm: Volleyball & sports at Korokoro Gateway*
2.30pm: Kids games and beach play
3.45pm: Memorial gathering at Iona Cross (100m past the Settlers Museum)
2-4.30pm: visit the Petone Settlers Museum special exhibit
*Korokoro Gateway is a small beach reserve at the western/motorway end of the Petone Esplanade. From Wellington, take the Petone motorway exit and turn right on to The Esplanade.
