Come enjoy a spectacular and entertaining Irish evening at the Wellington Irish Society!

Join us for a pint and a play when the Wellington Irish Society presents John Millington Synge’s well-known and controversial Irish play, Playboy of the Western World, in pub theatre style!

Unlike traditional theatre, guests will be seated at small tables, providing for a more intimate experience. They will be treated like patrons of the pub and included in the action of the play.

During the evening, guests will be treated to table service by lovely Irish lasses when purchasing beverages or snacks available from the Irish Society Bar. Guests are also welcome to bring their own food to accompany their beer.

The night's entertainment will go beyond theatre, with guests invited to enjoy Irish music each night and traditional Irish dancing on Thursday the 27th and weekend nights.

The well-known and controversial play is a dark comedy which tells the story of how one man, ‘playboy’ Christy Mahon, tries to transform his life by killing his father. His grand tales about it bring him much admiration from the people of the village who soon come to look at him as a hero … until they realise that his father is still alive.

A play set in a pub, performed in pub theatre style … It will be bloody good fun, with many things Irish in one spectacular evening!

Doors - and the bar - open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm.

Door sales available, or email Director Ania Upstill at to reserve tickets.
