A course in public speaking for skilled migrants with good conversational English skills. Learn to speak in front of an audience with confidence and clarity; how to introduce a guest speaker; and how to participate in a discussion and ask questions at meetings. Practice NZ-style job interviews and develop listening skills and good pronunciation. The course is free for migrants with residence who have been in NZ for fewer than five years and for refugees. The course ends with a Speech NZ examination taken by an accredited examiner. Those who pass get a formal qualification. Students pay their own Speech NZ examination fee of $127. Classes provide lots of opportunities for the presentation of talks by students with evaluation by the teacher and questions from the other students.
