Seventeen local, national and international sculptors will work in stone, wood and stainless steel, including guest artist Glebos Tkachenko who has travelled from Russia to take part. The theme for this year’s symposium is ‘The Returning Soldier’.

Following the symposium the artworks will be installed along Rotorua’s Sulphur Lake Sculpture Trail in Government Gardens. The sculpture trail will form part of the city’s 2015 WWI Gallipoli commemorations and will be on display until the next symposium in two years’ time.

The 2014 Rotorua Sculpture Symposium is open daily from 8am to 5pm until Friday 12 December. Entry is free.
