Pakuranga Choral Society's 40th Anniversary Concert brings the passion and drama of one of the greatest stories of all time. Handel's Oratorio Saul presents the violence, the turbulent emotions and the dramatic conflicts of the period. The conflict is not only between the Philistines and the Israelites but also in the mind of Saul himself, as he wrestles with his paranoid jealousy of the young hero David and his consequent intention to carry out murder.
The choir will be well supported by four young emerging artists: Ella Smith (soprano), Lachlan Craig (tenor), Stephen Diaz (counter-tenor -and second placegetter in the 2012 Lexus Song Contest) and Matthew Landreth (baritone).
The soloists will be robed spectacularly in colourful and appropriate dress to mirror the period they represent.
Experienced musician, Myra Smith, will conduct the performance.
Well known organist Michael Bell will provide the accompaniment.
The whole group is tackling the preparation for this performance with great enthusiam to make this a memorable 40th Anniversary Concert.
