Additional summer show announced
Sat 4 Jan at Waihi Beach Hotel with Opiuo

The Aotearoa summer brings some delicious certainties: days stretch out as the mercury rises; beaches pack out with punters escaping the cities; and electronic soul outfit Shapeshifter rolls out a run of sold out shows.

With four dates already locked in, you can now add Waihi Beach to Shapeshifter’s crucial summer run for 2013/2014, with a show confirmed at this iconic Coromandel destination on Saturday 4 January.

Shapeshifter will hit the summer tour circuit fresh off the back of taking home the Best Group and Best Electronica Album Tuis at this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards for their highly successful, fearlessly experimental 5th studio album Delta. Now, as plans for Delta’s follow-up already start to take shape, Shapeshifter leave the studio to do what they do best – bring their stadium-sized songs to New Zealand’s holiday hotspots.

For their shows in Station Village and Riwaka Hotel, Shapeshifter crew with future-shocked soul and R&B heavyweights Electric Wire Hustle, who will release their eagerly anticipated new album Love Can Prevail/Blackwater in the New Year. On Thursday 2 January, Shapeshifter double their powers by teaming with the mighty Fat Freddy’s Drop at Matakanaval, the first time these musical compadres have joined forces since 2007’s The Big Drop Off in Wellington. In-demand ex-pat Kiwi DJ and producer Opiuo comes along for the ride for Shapeshifter’s show in Coroglen Tavern plus their just-announced Waihi Beach date, adding his funk-fuelled bass music to the mix.

With allies Electric Wire Hustle and Opiuo riding shotgun, Shapeshifter let all the colours of their full-spectrum bass music ignite across five essential dates, kicking off 27 December. Do your summer justice and be there.
