Just because you don’t play an instrument doesn’t mean you can’t be a great songwriter! This course is designed specifically for non-musicians, covering song-structure and lyric craft as well as an easy-to-understand grounding in music, teaching just what you need to know to create your own songs. You will learn:

- The 3 chords almost every song is built on (it really is that basic!)
- Why a poem is different from a song - and how to turn it into one
- Techniques for making your words “sing-able”
- The VMC Song-Structure Blueprint: A simple, effective template for planning your song

Don’t keep those songs hidden inside! You can be a songwriter, and this course will teach you how in a friendly, encouraging environment.

Vicki Millar studied songwriting for her Masters Degree from the University of London. Her work has been performed in the UK, NZ and Australia, in styles from pop, jazz & gospel to comedy & musical theatre. “I Wish I Learned”, Vicki’s latest musical, played at the Aotea Centre in 2013; featured on TV’s Good Morning show, it was shortlisted for the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival.
