The Trusts Arena in Henderson Auckland will play host to the Stag 2014 World Veteran Table Tennis Championships from May 12 - 17. A strong international field of 1,665 players from 56 nations will battle it out across 8 age group divisions. Past world champions and current veteran world champions will seek to defend their titles across 5 days culminating on Super Saturday 17th May with Semi-finals and finals.

New Zealand has a strong contingent of 144 players from around the country and boasts having the oldest male competitor in the championships, 93 year old Harry Taylor from Christchurch. Another kiwi to watch out for is 8 time NZ Open Men’s champion Barry Griffiths playing in the over 50 age group. Barry a super hero of NZ Table Tennis had Ping Pong in his veins from a very early age and will be very competitive this month as he takes on the world’s best Table Tennis veterans.

One of the highlights of the championships will be Chinese born player Weixing Chen now representing Austria, a former top 10 player, Chen will be one of the star attractions alongside a great former world champion Peter Karlsson from Sweden who is attending his first world veteran championships.
