One music journalist noted that Stomping Nick Jackman's music reached back "decades beyond the last fad.” It is a fair description of a sound that fuses primitive garage rock with old rhythm and blues, country, boogie woogie and Appalachian folk. Much of Nick's repertoire consists of self-penned songs amongst old blues and hillbilly tunes from the early to mid 20th century. You might find it hard to tell which is which.

Stomping Nick performs as a one-man-band, singing and playing guitar, harmonica and drums together, creating contagious grooves to shake your moneymaker. With his hands and feet he produces a solid rhythm of guitar and drums, while his harmonica sits on top of the mix and dances like a wild child. Sometimes Stomping Nick croons, sometimes he hollers, sometimes he howls the way only a lone wolf can.

Stomping Nick is of no fixed abode. His home is everywhere and nowhere. He was born and raised in Lyttelton, New Zealand. He now lives in his van, often preferring the back roads to the highway.

"The blues won't go away, and New Zealand has had its share of aspiring practitioners, but Stomping Nick really does stand out." Nick Bollinger, Radio New Zealand

This is so much the way that Blues should be played - solo and with huge heart and total integrity.” Blues Matters
