Search for Real Live Storybook Characters.
Gather at 10:30 am sharp to join in this exciting scavenger hunt.

Search the nooks and crannies of Whangarei’s fabulous Central Library and adjoining Cafler Park (weather permitting) to find your favourite storybook characters. Track down each character to complete your game-card and win prizes.

Float Your Boat
In treacherous waters look for the Fierce Little Woman and the Wicked Pirate as you build and float your boat across the murky waters to receive your lollipop treasure before moving on to find your next storybook character.

Come along dressed in your favourite costume and be into win spot prizes!

All children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.

The New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults are celebrated with a nationwide festival of events and activities that bring books alive for young readers of all ages. This colourful festival promotes the importance of books and reading, and provides inspiration for New Zealand’s future writers and illustrators.

The 2014 festival runs from Saturday 17 May until Sunday 25 May, leading up to the announcement of the winners at an awards ceremony in Auckland on 23 June.
