Tales Tongue, & Community Workshop

Where: Avon Loop Community Cottage, 28 Hurley St, Christchurch

Restrictions: All Ages

Listed by: earthmother5

By telling our own story or the stories of our family we also tell the story of the community in which we live. Places hold the memories of the people that have inhabited them. The workshop will be flexible using a range of techniques from personal/family stories and anecdotes through to fairy or folktales to leave you with a story to tell in more ways than one!

Shonaleigh's work is steeped in the essence and methods of oral narrative tradition, and she will share this expertise in accessible form in this workshop for new and seasoned writers and storytellers, and everyone.

Born into a European Jewish family and now based in Britain, Shonaleigh is one of the few remaining drut’sylas or storytellers in an ancient Jewish tradition, and one of the foremost professional storytellers working today on the national and international stage. She is Artistic Director of Phrase Arts and Associate Lecturer in Storytelling at the University of Derby. She serves on the board of the British Awards for Storytelling Excellence and was deputy National Storytelling Laureate 2010-12. She has a number of books in preparation.
