It’s going to be an epic month at Skycity Auckland this March!

Every Friday and Saturday night from 7pm this month, some of New Zealand’s biggest entertainers will be performing live on the Main Casino Floor at Skycity Auckland, including Sola Rosa, Frankie and the Diamond Divas, Hipstamatics and Annie Crummer. If you want free live entertainment – there's no better place to be than Skycity Auckland.

Taye has been performing since he could tie his shoelaces. His first memories of music were Albums by Stevie Wonder "Songs in the key of life" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller". In fact, 'the moonwalk' is his favourite dance move. Born in Tauranga, and bred Te Puke, things weren’t always rosy growing up, and this drove Taye deeper into music. He would be playing daily on his guitar and singing songs. He studied music through Intermediate and high school, and from an early age had a certain impression of the industry, and the party pitfalls associated with it. This journey saw him perform throughout New Zealand and on the international stage.

Whilst living in Australia, and after experiencing a heart-break, Taye re-connected with his first love – music. He returned to NZ in 2000 and decided to give music a chance. Even while performing live with his covers band Taye was always working away in his studio, creating his own sound based on the funk, soul and R&B influences he grew up with. He snuck on the bill to open for K-Ci and Jojo in 2004 and then performed at local club nights with other Chart Topping Urban Kiwi Artists where this unique sound was well received.

Finally in 2009 after a lot of hard work he released his first independent single “Turn It Up”.

"There is nothing like driving around in your car and hearing yourself on the radio for the first time" he says. "I remember the excitement and raw emotions that I almost had tears laughing.."

It charted well, hitting the top 30 on the RadioScope Chart, and there were a few learnings to take away from that experience. Whilst still vying to get back on to the radio Taye recorded 'Soul Love' with Fast Crew in 2008 and 'Always' with PNC in 2012.

In 2013 Taye became a household name through The X-Factor Show by making the Top 12 in the first season. Although he didn’t win, his passion never wavered, and now he is signed to Empire Records.

Taye has just completed his latest single "Now Or Never" featuring label mates Drew and Tyree. The song talks about chasing your dreams and never giving up no matter the obstacles in front of you. However, on the flip side of that, whatever those obstacles are, there is a reason that we forgo our dreams because of that one person that makes us feel content with what and who we are.

Taye is working hard to make this musical journey an honest and open account of his feelings and love for music - no matter the genre. And he plans on making some beautiful noise along the way.

R20 to enter the Casino.
