The Hanumi Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2008 in Enschede (in the Netherlands) led by New Zealand-born Michael Jamieson. Within a year of formation, the group was gaining success in competitions (3rd prize at the Selmer Paris Concours for saxophone quartets), as well as appearing in major chamber-music festivals around the country. They have performed on Dutch television and radio and regularly perform with other instrumentalists- constantly pushing the boundaries of 'traditional' saxophone quartet repertoire.

The Hanumi Saxophone Quartet touring New Zealand currently are: Michael Jamieson – soprano saxophone (New Zealand); Harmke Seinen – alto saxophone (Netherlands); Miriam Kötter – tenor saxophone (Germany); Lukas Stappenbeck – baritone saxophone (Germany). Their programme for this concert will include a transcription of Maurice Ravel's String Quartet (1903) and 6 Bagatelles (1956) by the late György Ligeti.

Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music is a joint venture of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
