Mozart's Vienna - NZSM Lunchtime Concert

Dr Erin Helyard, NZSM Lecturer in Historical Performance Practice, presents a concert of works from the end of the 18th Century.

Performed on the New Zealand School of Music's beautiful replica of a Viennese fortepiano from around 1795, this programme highlights the works of Mozart and his contemporaries. Two sets of variations highlight the improvisational prowess of the young Beethoven and the young Mozart and a grand sonata by the great Viennese master Kozeluch and a masterpiece standalone Adagio by Mozart echo the turbulent social and political troubles of Vienna in the late 1780s.
