Sub-titled A Mass for Peace, The Armed Man is a powerful and compelling choral account of descent into, and the terrible consequences of, war. Commissioned for the millenium by Britain's Royal Arsenal, and written by Welsh composer Carl Jenkins, it makes a fitting choice to mark this year's centenary of the outbreak of the first World War.

At times harrowing, at times lyrical and uplifting, The Armed Man will be sung by The Wairarapa Singers accompanied by organ and a small orchestra.
