Solo sax player Phil Davison creates a panorama of noise embedded with Delta Blues, New Orleans R&B, and free jazz.

Back in the 1970s and '80s Phil was active as a free jazz improvisor both in NZ and Sydney. In the 1990s he made his living by busking on the sax in Auckland's red light district while studying composition at Auckland University. Now after a long time working as a photographer and filmmaker he's back with the sax, creating spectacular improvisations with a that draw it all together - the raw-ness of free jazz and delta blues combined with contemporary "classical" and most of all - the awareness of a funky beat.
