Join us at the North Otago Museum for the launch of The Home Front: North Otago 1914-18 and a preview of our next exhibition From Little Towns in a Far Land, which tells stories of North Otago's Participation in the First World War.

The Home Front: North Otago 1914-18 by author Graeme Leather examines what like was life for North Otago residents during the First World War. Waitaki District Mayor Gary Kircher will launch the book at the North Otago Museum on August 5 2014, one hundred years after war was declared. Please join us to celebrate from 6.30pm at the Museum.

The book draws on the Waitaki District Archive and North Otago Museum collections. It tells the story of how the war changed everyday life in North Otago. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale on the night. The launch will include a preview of the Museum’s upcoming exhibition on World War One, From little towns in a far land. This exhibition focuses on personal stories and experiences of the war and will open in September.
