The Edge presents Auckland International Cabaret Season featuring The Modern Maori Quartet.
June 4th & 8th, Live at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall.

The Concert Chamber transforms into a hotbed of decadence as The Edge presents a sumptuous five-night engagement of the Cabaret world’s hottest talents, as the inaugural Auckland International Cabaret Season takes place from June 4th 2014, and features The Modern Maori Quartet on June 4th and 8th.

Seven of the scene’s brightest stars indulge audiences with a season that embraces the true spirit of the cabaret. An intoxicating mix of international and locally revered acts offer up a blend of original, classic and contemporary cabaret performances in an intimate cabaret club setting.

The Modern Maori Quartet are a group of dashing Maori crooners - the creative love child of Prince Tui Teka and Flight of the Conchords – with a sound like golden syrup on hot fried bread. After the premiere of their highly acclaimed show Nga Bro E Wha last year at Galatos, these four good looking, hip swaying guys are back singing in cabaret style a mix of old school and modern day classics with their unique 'Modern Maori' twist.

Other shows in the Auckland International Cabaret Season including the delectable Le Gateau Chocolat (UK), New York “cabaret superstar” (New York Magazine) Lady Rizo (US), Australia’s Michael Griffiths channelling pop superstars Madonna and Annie Lennox, local chanteuse Julia Deans singing Joni Mitchell, local diva Jennifer Ward-Lealand falling in love again as Marlene Dietrich and Australian enfant terrible Tommy Bradson.

We know you’re spoilt for choice, so treat yourself and see two of these Cabaret stars for $60.00* or three for just $85.00* with our specially curated Season Indulgence packages (see for more details).

It's been too long since we've heard the dulcet tones of a group of strapping Maori lads in harmony, and the Modern Maori Quartet managed to take everyone right back to the 50s and 60s with their Howard Morrison-esque sound...leaving everyone clamouring for more - New Zealand Herald

The Modern Maori Quartet radiate good times. (Oh, to find yourself at a party with a couple of guitars and these guys belting out songs.) – Metro

This is a world class line up of soulful, powerful and comedic cabaret voices – don’t miss the Auckland International Cabaret Season, on for just five nights this June at Auckland Town Hall.
