Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, planning is now well underway for the 2014 "No More Excuses" Writers’ Weekend.
Limited spaces so get in early and Book now! by email, or ph 0800 227769.
Over the long weekend you will:
- Be inspired by guest authors sharing their stories, experiences and insights
- Be challenged with tools and techniques in a series of practical workshops
- Be encouraged through sharing ideas with fellow writers in the Writers’ Lounge
- Be energised by lively conversation or peaceful walks on the beach
- Enjoy warm and comfortable 4-star accommodation in the beachside suburb of Tahunanui
- Most importantly – be given plenty of opportunity to get on with your writing!

This year you will have the rare opportunity to hear a writer on the brink of stardom. Local Nelson writer, Rachael Craw will have her first book, “Spark”, in a young adult series, released on July 1st by Walker Books Australia. Walker Books are actively promoting this new writer and her book. Rachael began writing her first novel five years ago. She is an inspiration to any of us plugging away at our keyboards. If you're searching for motivation to finish that book, hearing Rachael share her story could be just what you need.

Auckland based author and speaker, Chris Grantham will also be sharing his insights. His first book, a 2005 adaptation of one of the world’s bestselling all time books, was itself a bestseller for Penguin and led to the writing of sequel.
He has a self published a book about his son, Mark Grantham QSM, “The Chocolate Seller on Broadway and his kids”.
Chris is an entertaining speaker who will make you laugh as well as learn from his story of publishing success alongside a busy and varied career path.

Writing is like hunting. There are brutally cold afternoons with nothing in sight, only the wind and your breaking heart. Then the moment when you bag something big. The entire process is beyond intoxicating. – Kate Braverman
