Every Saturday from 21 June to 6 September 2014, get a taste for the performing arts. We have 12 weeks of free family fun to get you through winter! From ballet to comedy, story-telling to hip hop, and theatre techniques, there is something for everyone in our 2014 Pick & Mix programme. Every Saturday morning, musicians, dancers, actors and storytellers will perform and run workshops for the whole family to enjoy for free. This is a great opportunity to introduce your kids, family and friends to performing arts entertainment and activities. Come and go as you please, there are no tickets or allocated seating. Just turn up and join in the fun or just relax and be entertained - it’s the perfect start to the weekend.

Royal New Zealand Ballet

Performance 10.30am
Six dancers from the Royal New Zealand Ballet will present extracts from Allegro. The Allegro season, premiering at the Aotea Centre on 30 July, features five contemporary ballets choreographed by four artists.

Workshop 11.30am
A chance for audience members to participate in a practical dance session and learn some movements from the performance extracts of Allegro.

The Company
The Royal New Zealand Ballet was established in 1953, and since then has been dedicated to touring New Zealand and presenting classical and contemporary ballets by four choreographers. The Royal New Zealand Ballet is seen as an intrinsic part of the country’s national heritage, and has the largest following of all New Zealand performing arts companies.
