Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and David Atkins Enterprises present the Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and the Really Useful Group production of The Sound of Music.

One of the biggest and best-loved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music, is coming to New Zealand in September. This lavish and critically acclaimed West End production features seven children that form the Von Trapp family, and the producers are looking to cast six of these children in New Zealand.
Two male and four female roles will be auditioned for in Wellington and Auckland next month and children who fit the character brief outlined below are invited to register at
The roles the producers are looking for are:

Friedrich – height 1.52m, playing a boy aged 14
Louisa – height 1.5m, playing a girl aged 13
Kurt – height 1.4m, playing a boy aged 11
Brigitta – height 1.4m, playing a girl aged 9/10
Marta – height 1.3m, playing a girl aged 7
Gretl – height 1.2m, played by a girl to be no younger than 6/7

To audition, you must complete an online registration form, print it off and bring it with you to a pre-registration day in either Wellington or Auckland,

The first stage of the audition process will be to attend an audition registration where we will take your photo and measure your height. On arrival please provide us with your personal information you submitted online

Wellington: Saturday 12th April: Upstairs Foyer of the St James Theatre between 10:00am- 2:00pm
Auckland: Sunday 13th April: Concert Chamber, Town Hall between 10:00am-2:00pm

Once registered, everyone will be invited to attend auditions.

For those unable to attend these dates, please still register online and bring the form with you on the 1st day of auditions.

Please Note: Non attendance on the pre-registration day on the dates stated, will mean a much more lengthy process on the 1st day of auditions. The only people who are permitted not to attend the registration days are those who live in towns or cities outside the audition cities.

The first round of auditions in Auckland will be held on -
Saturday April 26th Civic Theatre Auckland
Sunday April 27th Town Hall Concert Chamber
Monday April 28th Civic Theatre Auckland

Rehearsals for the show will commence from 18 August in Wellington and run full time until the show opens.
You must be prepared to commit fully to these rehearsals as required for the entire season (including pre-season rehearsals and in-season)
Any non-attendance at rehearsals will not be tolerated unless approved prior to the start of the rehearsal season.
Special permission will need to be gained from your school about the time off that you need and we will help you with this.
