A mind-blowing first ever exhibition by twelve year old abstract artist Tim Hackett.

Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art is proud to announce the opening of extraordinary young artist Tim Hackett’s first ever exhibition of his work on Tuesday 8 April at 6.30pm.

Born in 2001, abstract artist Tim started painting at the age of four. Prompted by the sights and sounds of his father's studio practice, Tim’s interest in all forms of visual arts and enduring interest in creative construction has led to an incredible body of work.

His father, Peter Hackett, a well-known Auckland artist, has pushed, pulled, bribed and coaxed his son into producing a large collection of work both Tim and his family are justifiably proud of.
Interest in Tim and his work, both in paint and digital media, has increased so that he has been rewarded with this inspiring gallery representation at the Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art in his hometown.

Gallery Director Ronald Epskamp first noticed a couple of Tim’s abstract paintings when visiting Peter Hackett in his studio and asked for the opportunity to exhibit the work before knowing anything about the artist. He was overwhelmed to learn Tim was just ten years old at the time.

“It is very easy to paint abstract badly, and very difficult to paint it well,” says Ronald. “To discover the very talented artist is so young was phenomenal.

There is a maturity in Tim’s work that is well beyond his years and he has an exciting artistic future.”
