Every child dreams of finding a shiny new bike under the tree on Christmas morning, but how about an entire tree of bikes!? ChildFund New Zealand, with the generous support of Beca and Enterprize Steel, is wheeling out just that to Queens Wharf: New Zealand’s first-ever Christmas Tree of Bikes.

At nearly two stories tall and featuring bikes donated by the Auckland community, the ultimate in upcycled Christmas decorations will celebrate the humble bicycle and its importance to children in developing countries like Sri Lanka.

Bikes are the key to giving children living in poverty in the developing world better access to an education and in turn improving their chances of prospering in future. Having a bike transforms an arduous walk of between five and 15 kilometres each way into a much easier and even fun journey. Children's capacity to learn is greater, their attendance increases and their grades improve.

Come down for the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony of ChildFund's Tree of Bikes and join us in heralding in the festive season. It will be a fun event for the whole family.

With special thanks also to Event Fence, Blue Box Storage, CMA Recycling, Showlights, Les Mills, CityGuard, Auckland Transport and Queen's Wharf for their generous support.
