Join us for a screening of 'The Man in the Hat : Peter McLeavey'.
Since opening his gallery in 1966, Peter McLeavey has played a vital role in shaping both our local and national art scene, helping make the names of canonical New Zealand modernists, including Colin McCahon, Toss Woollaston, Gordon Walters and Milan Mrkusich. It was directed by Luit Bieringa, beautifully shot by Leon Narby and accompanied by a soundtrack from Plan9 (75mins), G).
We thank Luit and Jan Bieringa, who have allowed the McCahon House Museum to screen this film at no charge.
Jan Bieringa will give an introduction to the film and lead a Q & A following the screening.
This event coincides with the current exhibition McLeavey Sat Here, at the City Gallery Wellington. (5 April-15 June)
