The Volunteer and Emergency Services open day is a great opportunity to show Auckland’s emergency capability as well as the vital input that non-emergency volunteers have in the community. “Building on our experience from last year’s successful event, we are thrilled the volunteer and emergency services groups that attended last year are returning with a bigger showcase in mind.”
Organisations including the New Zealand Fire Service, New Zealand Police, St John Ambulance, Coastguard, New Zealand Defence Force, SPCA, Urban Search and Rescue along with other community groups will demonstrate the importance of volunteer and emergency service groups in our communities and show the types of incidents our emergency services deal with every day.
This event will include hands on, live and static displays through out the day. Children will be able take on the popular childrens combat challenge.
More than one million New Zealander's are involved in volunteer work, greatly contributing to their communities in areas such as education, social services, health, recreation and the arts. This annual event aims to engage the community with some of these volunteer organisations.
