Locating, protecting and restoring Inanga spawning habitat – by Dr Mike Hickford

Come along and learn about the lifecycle of the Whitebait and how you can find and protect Whitebait eggs in your river. Did you know that there is Whitebait in Northland and that they fuel a food chain in both marine and freshwater environments? Location and restoration or protection of Whitebait breeding or spawning areas is essential to ensuring healthy Whitebait populations into the future.

Wednesday 5 March at Takahiwai Marae, 229 Takahiwai Road, Takahiwai, (just South of Whangarei) from 6.30 – 8pm. Entry by gold coin donation/koha.
