Micheal will be returning to East Coast Folk Club as a solo performer, a rare occurrence these days as he is busy playing in various bands. His last appearance at the club was with his alt country/western swing band “Rainberry Pie”.

This time he will be playing the music that most influenced him, from the first song he ever performed to his latest musical passions. In other words, his “roots” music, a blend of Americana folk, country and swing.

Micheal will be supported by Deborah Mackenzie supplying beguiling harmonies and enticing melody lines.

Micheal Young became obsessed with the guitar at the age of 18, inspired by the likes of James Taylor, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Chet Atkins and the Beatles. A few years later he latched on to the progressive fusion music of The Tony Rice Unit, David Grisman Quartet, Tony Trishka with Skyline, and New Grass Revival and added a mandolin to his toolkit. His love for vocal harmonies has grown from his participation in the New Zealand bands “Wires & Wood”, “Too Far Gone”, “ReInTarNayShun” and "Rainberry Pie", as well as his album of duets “Double Helix”. He says “After a few years of honing my bass skills, I’ve been waiting for the right ensemble to invest my time and experience in - Albi & The Wolves is definitely the one”.

This is the club's 23rd Birthday Party - all welcome - please bring a plate to share for supper. Mulled apple juice, tea and coffee will be served.

Tonight's guest appearance will be preceded by casual performers in the first half.
