Tumanako! Hope!

Wellington's Mayor Celia Wade-Brown is hosting the 70th Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with a Childrens art exhibition. 70 years after entering the nuclear age children will be expressing their hopes for a peaceful world.

The opening ceremony will be at Wellington Central Library at 12pm on Sunday 2-August and will include music, food, prizes and art for peace.

Children aged 8 - 15-years-old are invited to submit artwork in any medium. If you are interested, or your class is interested, please register your interest using the Book Now button on this page. The organisers would really appreciate registrations as soon as possible so they can make arrangements for the best possible display of the artworks.

The artworks then need to be submitted by 22-July.

The days events commence with a commemoration at the Botanical gardens Peace Flame from 10:30am.
