Ken Inger is related to descendants of Port Albert – the Albertlanders - and with his Grandfather working in a Kauri timber mill on the Kaipara until it closed, Ken has always had an interest in the Kauri industry and has built up his collection as he traveled around New Zealand. He is keen to share his collection & knowledge with others.

Athol McLachlan is one of three generations of McLachlan’s living on the road that takes their family name. In the '20s when Athol McLachlan’s grandfather purchased 500 acres, it was a horse-track that connected the family with Kaukapakapa, used especially for taking their cream to Mount Rex. Over the years gum-diggers developed the horse-track now known as McLachlan Road so that they could deliver gum to Dye’s Store in Kaukapakapa.
