Shakespeare's Globe, in partnership with Arts Alliance, conclude their exceptional ‘Season of Plenty’ with the enchanting fantasy A Midsummer Night’s Dream this November in cinemas. Starring Olivier Award-winner Michelle Terry and John Light, and directed by Dominic Dromgoole, the production explores the intense passions and antagonisms that lurk beneath the shimmering surface of Shakespeare’s eternally popular comedy.

Described by critics as ‘joyously inventive and touching’, A Midsummer Night’s Dream immerses the audience in a strange and delightful story of love and mischievousness with dazzling dramatic poetry. Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius – but Demetrius is supposed to be marrying Hermia… When the Duke of Athens tries to enforce the marriage, the lovers take refuge in the woods and wander into the midst of a dispute between the king and queen of the fairies.

Directed by the Globe’s Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole, with music from internationally renowned composer Claire van Kampen and designs by Tony Award-nominated designer Jonathan Fensom, Dromgoole’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is inventive, warm, lively and affectionate.
