A four part series guiding listeners on a historical path through the evolution of jazz from the 1960s to the present day.

Learn about how jazz evolved and developed both structurally and harmonically, and find out about the social context behind the music and in New Zealand.

Each session covers a different decade and era in jazz:

1960s Presented by Norman Meehan; 6 September, 2 – 3pm

1970s Presented by Lex French; 13 September, 2 – 3pm

1980s Presented by Reuben Bradley; 20 September 2015, 2 – 3pm

1990s and beyond Presented by Mark Donlon; 27 September 2015, 2 – 3pm

Each session is presented by a prominent jazz authority from Te Koki New Zealand School of Music, a live Jazz quintet and will be recorded by Radio New Zealand National.
