A unique musical event!

What happens when you get 5 timpani, a glockenspiel, and a collection of bells, together with woodwinds brass, strings and voices? You will get much more than you imagined or have seen before in Rotorua. An ensemble of 30 of the region's most talented musicians will come together in early June for the inaugural performance of the Rotorua Lakes Instrumental Ensemble. They will team up with over 50 accomplished voices from the Rotorua District Choir to present "Carmina" , a unique concert with wide appeal.

Programme Director, Martyn Heath has assembled local string, woodwind, brass players and percussionists to present the pieces. "We have so many incredibly talented musicians in Rotorua. This is a rare opportunity for them to come together and perform some great works with the choir."

The programme includes Carmina Burana which starts with the very well known "O Fortuna", Verdi's Ave Maria and the very popular Deutsche Messe composed by Franz Schubert

Rotorua Lakes Councillor, Glenys Searancke has encouraged people to come along. "This is an exciting first for Rotorua and deserves the full support of the community".

Don't miss this unique concert presentation. Entry by programme available at the door.
