These are words used to describe Fiona Pears, the highly talented violinist and composer from Christchurch. Describing her musical influences as Stephane Grappelli, Roby Lakatos, Django Reinhardt, John Williams and Jean Luc Pointy, Pears performs Celtic, Classical, Tango, Jazz and Gypsy with equal ease, sometimes all in the same composition! New Zealand born and now dividing her time between London and New Zealand, Fiona has performed and recorded with artists such as Dave Dobbyn, Hayley Westenra, Bic Runga, and has opened for Tony Bennett, Ottmar Liebert and the late Victor Borge. Personal highlights include appearing at Ronnie Scott’s world famous jazz club in London and performing her own compositions and arrangements with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

The International Akaroa Music Festival concert series:
I am delighted to introduce our 2015 International Akaroa Music Festival programme.

Between 9-25 January we will be presenting a series of wonderful concerts featuring distinguished national and international artists as well as performances by some of New Zealand’s most talented young musicians.

If you have attended previous festivals in beautiful Akaroa you will know how exciting it is to see our guest artists inspire and stimulate a new generation of young musicians. If you have not experienced this unique festival of music making before you have a wonderful treat in store.

I look forward to meeting you at The International Akaroa Music Festival.
