Perinatal Depression Awareness Week 31 October - 8 November 2015. Postnatal depression, which might be more accurately described as perinatal distress, affects around 1 in 5 mothers and around 1 in 6 dads. (The term perinatal distress is more fitting because some new parents experience anxiety, sleeplessness and even panic attacks, rather than depression and for some this begins in pregnancy, not just after the birth).

The Perinatal Mental Health NZ (PMHNZ) Trust is working across New Zealand to improve outcomes for families and whanau affected by mental illness related to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood.

Perinatal depression affects families, workplaces and the whole community. This event reinforces the vital messages that ‘it’s ok to talk about it’ and early intervention leads to a faster recovery!

Celebrity chef, Allyson Gofton and Lotto presenter, Sonia Gray have both suffered with perinatal depression and want to share their experiences with you of the loneliness, coping and creating wellbeing. The evening is hosted by Jude Dobson from Raising Children.

Tickets only $40 which includes a welcome drink and nibbles.
