Anthonie Tonnon will add one solo show to his Successor album release tour. He will perform at Freida Margolis, Grey Lynn, on Sunday June 7, to officially welcome the 12" vinyl version of the album.

The show will see him perform songs from Successor in the way they were written, in the neighbourhood they were written in. Tickets are available from and include a copy of the vinyl.

Those who have already purchased the vinyl can get special discounted tickets by emailing

Tonnon says:

"One of the first places these songs were aired was a completely acoustic cassette release show at Freida's, which people still remember and ask me about. I thought about making this show acoustic, and there will be a bit of that - but the songs also changed a lot due to a year and a half of touring and experimenting with pedals and stage tricks. I'm going to bring together everything I've learned and produce the best versions of the songs I can in a solo show."

Tonnon has recently performed his solo show before Paul Kelly and Yumi Zouma, and this show will be one of his last New Zealand performances before he releases Successor internationally through Misra Records/Wild Kindness (USA and EU), and Flippin Yeah Industries in Australia.

Recent acclaim for Successor:

(Five Stars) “Tonnon has successfully turned his fascinations with the stories of others into masterful musical miniatures... It's rare to hear an album so singular, and yet so engaging.” - Lydia Jenkin, New Zealand Herald

(Four and a half stars) “Tonnon weaves these whimsical tales in sometimes astounding fashion, particularly the three-pronged punch of “Railway Lines,” “Bird Brains” and “Sugar In The Petrol Tank,” one of the best opening statements of an album - not just from here, but anywhere - in recent memory” - Jake Ebdale, Rip It Up
