Welcome to Art on the Rail Trail! The Central Otago District Arts Trust and the Otago Central Rail Trail Trust have worked together to showcase the art of our talented Central Otago artists all along the Rail Trail. Cafes, hotels and galleries between Clyde and Middlemarch are featuring mini solo art exhibitions by our artists as part of this eight week long group event. Art on the Rail Trail opened on Friday 6th of February, Waitangi weekend 2015 and ends after Easter in April 2015.

This is peak season for the Rail Trail operators and Art on the Rail Trail will be a wonderful experience of the Rail Trail riders and the art loving public. The event offers an opportunity for the participating artists to raise their profile and the chance to showcase their art to a much wider audience and hopefully sell their work.

The Otago Central Rail Trail enjoys a large volume of visitors participating on this classic ride. The Rail Trail is well known as being high on visitors “must do” list. This event takes art to where bikers already are rather than them having to go off trail to find the artists and presents an opportunity for greater appreciation, participation and discussion between the public and the artists exhibiting.
