Explore the art of printing in this day-long workshop.

Morning
Go on an inspiring tour of the exhibition Louis Rosenberg: Etched into memory with curator Mark Stocker, and explore other prints in the galleries. Later, venture back of house with Mark and Rebecca Rice to examine the finer details of etchings in our collection.

Lunch
Enjoy a light lunch provided by Te Papa.

Afternoon
Get hands on with a three-hour engraving workshop led by Wellington based artist Basia Smolnicki. Learn printing-making techniques and create a print to take home. We encourage you to bring along a drawing, photo you've taken or an image you might like to develop into a print. We’ll have reference prints that you can use if you prefer.

Suitable for adults of all abilities.

Tutor
Basia Smolnicki is a Wellington based artist who uses stencil methods to build narratives in print and sandblasted glass. Basia produces woodcuts and etchings that employ traditional printmaking techniques and sandblasted designs on glass. Her unique sand etched glass combines fine art with functional and inspiring design. As a complement to her art practice Basia tutors at many Wellington community and tertiary art institutions.
