The historic Ports of Auckland Regatta turns 175 years old this Auckland Anniversary Weekend, and you can get close to the action with a special harbour sailing on Regatta Day.

Climb on board the Maritime Museum's scow, Ted Ashby, for the best view on the water of the hundreds of boats competing in different races. From dragon boats to harbour blasters, sloops to racing keelers, the Regatta attracts boats of all shapes, sizes and ages for an incredible visual spectacle.

You can either choose a two hour morning cruise on Ted taking in the tug boat display. For the first time ever these powerful vessels will race inside the Waitemata Harbour and they churn up quite a storm! You'll also get a great view of the official Regatta start.

Or, climb on board Ted for a one hour afternoon cruise and enjoy the spectacle of the Regatta competitors returning to the harbour.

Ted Ashby is a ketch-rigged deck scow, typical of the fleet of scows that once operated in northern New Zealand waters. You can find out more about the vessel from her knowledgeable crew, or simply sit back and enjoy a great view of the action.

So come and be part of the celebrations as Auckland takes to the water this Anniversary Weekend.
