Were you born in the 50s or 60s? Have you heard of Blixa Bargeld and Einstürzende Neubauten, or are you in love with Berlin? Then this film is a must for you!

The documentary by Jörg A. Hoppe, Heiko Lange and Klaus Maeck is a monument in honour of West-Berlin’s wild 1980s, when Berlin was really, really cool. Everything was possible, nothing seemed forbidden in this island city in the middle of the GDR. In the last decade before the fall of the wall, West Berlin had become a centre for artists, squatters, subversive ideas, subcultures, drugs, trash, ugliness and passion. And musician and author Mark Reeder from Manchester meets them all: Blixa Bargeld, Nick Cave, Gudrun Gut, Christiane F. and many, many others.

“...dense with detail, this is an appealing memoir of a wild decade in a city that remains a magnet for young bohemians and party animals from across the globe.” – Stephen Dalton, "The Hollywood Reporter"

Screening in association with the Goethe Institut.
