The Tauranga Civic Choir invites you to join them for an evening of sublime Baroque music, from three of their favourite Baroque composers: Bach, Vivaldi and Handel, conducted by Guest Conductor, Nigel Williams.
J S Bach's Cantata No 147 is named "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben" but is immediately recognised for its chorale and accompaniment - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.
A Vivaldi's Gloria is a work of joy, and is a superbly melodic work, containing beautiful solo, duet and choral parts.
The organ accompaniment for the concert is provided by Myles Hartley, now resident in Hamilton. Myles, a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, was Organ Scholar at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and Worcester College, Oxford, and was Director of Music at Oxford University’s Harris Manchester College prior to moving to New Zealand.
Myles will play excerpts from G F Handel's Water Music and Royal Fireworks Suites.
Guest Conductor: Nigel Williams
Soloists: Madison Nonoa, Hannah Kim, Kayla Collingwood, Filipe Manu, Clinton Fung
