Ever wondered what creatures come out at night in Hamilton city? Book into one of our famous Bat Tours and find out!

Join us for an entertaining and informative experience at the Museum, before we go out bat spotting with our bat detectors. If we’re lucky, we’ll hear the bats or even see them as they hunt for their evening snack. We'll also keep our eyes open for other nocturnal animals such as glow-worms, eels and moreporks.

The tour starts at Waikato Museum and ends in Hammond Park, Hillcrest. You will need to provide your own transport from Waikato Museum to Hammond Park. For directions to get to Hammond Park click here.

Children must be more than five years old and accompanied by an adult.

Please note: this is an outdoor tour so dress for the weather. Wear suitable outdoor footwear and pack a raincoat just in case. We provide small torches but you may want to bring your own torch.

Bat Tours take place rain or shine unless advised otherwise. We will phone all participants if the event is cancelled.

Please advise cancellations between 8am and 4.30pm, a minimum of 24 hours before the start of the event to receive a refund.

Bookings are essential. Book online or in person during Museum opening hours.

Bat tours are presented with the support of Waikato Regional Council and Project Echo
