Learn and refine a variety of Acro Dance moves. Students in this class will be of various abilities so we will extend the individual on a case by case basis. Depending on ability, moves worked on will be: hand stands (straight & attitude), head stands, cartwheels, walk overs, flexibility moves (splits, bridges, chin stands etc), tumbling moves (front & back handsprings (flick flacks), aerials, round offs, back tucks). Time will also be spent on partner/group balances.

This is a technique only class so won’t have its own dance in the end of year shows but there may be an opportunity to assist the younger Acro classes dancers in the show with lifts etc. Stacey or Carla will be in contact in Term 3 if assistance is required.

Acro dance combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography which blends dance and acrobatics (think Cirque du Soleil!) Our aim is to get students in this class into good physical condition as acro dance is the most physically demanding dance style we offer. Therefore the emphasis will be on flexibility, strength, balance and endurance exercises. Time will also be spent on tumbling, leaps and partnered balancing exercises.

The timetable is subject to change and classes will only proceed if we have sufficient enrolments a week before the start date, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Refunds will apply for classes which do not proceed.
