February film "Bread of Happiness "
(Director: Yukiko Mishima, 2012, 114min. Rating:PG, Cast: Tomoyo Harada, Yo Oizumi )

Will warm your heart and calm you down.

A heart-warming drama inspired by a real bakery cafe in Hokkaido that presents a warm depiction of the everyday life of the couple who run it and their customers, filled with the scenery of the four seasons and baking scenes.

Rie and Sang founded a bakery-cum-restaurant named Mani on the shores of Lake Toya, Hokkaido. Sang is the baker who bakes the bakery's bread, while Rie is the chef who prepares the food in the restaurant.

Graced with beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons, this shop serves a variety of customers, some of whom are experiencing personal problems. However, after they exit from the shop, they feel only happiness in their mind.

Presented by the Consulate-General of Japan, The University of Auckland, The University of Waikato, Massey University Albany Campus, The Japan Foundation.
