One of the world’s most acclaimed composers/songwriters, Burt Bacharach, returns with his band and vocalists for one night only at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday, 7 November accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
Tickets for this spectacular night of entertainment from a modern musical genius whose hits include I Say a Little Prayer, Walk on By, (There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, What’s New Pussy Cat? and Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head, are on sale now.
Honoured with his eighth Grammy (Lifetime Achievement Award) and proclaimed music’s “Greatest Living Composer” at the fiftieth Grammy Awards in 2008, Burt has just completed a hugely successful tour of Europe to standing ovations for his performances, including Glastonbury Festival's Main Stage in front of more than 100,000 enthusiastic fans and the Wales Millennium Centre.
“Burt Bacharach proves that the oldies really are the goodies.”
Glastonbury 2015: The Independent 28 June 2015
Six decades into one of song writing’s most successful and honoured careers marked by three Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, forty eight Top Ten hits, nine number one songs, over 500 compositions and a landmark fifty-year plus run on the charts (several hit singles featured simultaneously on multiple global charts), Burt’s music continues to set industry records and creative standards. Regularly bracketed with names ranging from Cole Porter to Sir George Martin, as one of a handful of visionaries who pioneered new forms of music from the second half of the 20th Century and continued into the 21st Century, he has also contributed to the careers of Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Neil Diamond, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, REM, Sheryl Crow, Gene Pitney and The Beatles.
“The word legend is mentioned all too often in music and sadly it rarely seems justified.
In the case of Burt Bacharach, it is a perfect description of a genius of a man who has written
probably the greatest body of work popular music has and will ever see.” Wales Online
Burt will be on stage for the duration of his two-hour Auckland concert, not only demonstrating his amazing musicality but also sharing special moments of his long career and the stories behind the songs.
The elegance, the melodies, the bliss. Don’t miss this chance to share a memorable evening with undoubtedly one of the most important composers of the 20th Century. Don’t Walk on By!
