Palmerston North Community Accounting (PNCA) is a free service for clubs, societies and other not-for-profits that don’t have regular access to an accountant. We offer sessions where you receive confidential personalised advice to help you be a more effective treasurer. We offer best practice guidance and can help you out when you get stuck. We do not provide an accounting, audit or review service. We cannot provide financial advice and do not help businesses of any size.

We will provide a written summary of our advice so you can refer back to it later and or show it to our committee.

We are staffed by volunteer senior accountancy students from Massey University under the supervision of a volunteer Chartered Accountant.

We can help with:

- Guidance for new treasurers on their role and how perform it effectively and efficiently
- How to read a balance sheet and assess the financial situation of your club
- Advice and support on good financial management to satisfy funders etc.
- Help with choosing an accounting system - Excel spreadsheets, Xero etc.
- Guidance on preparing annual returns including Financial Reporting for Tier 3 and 4 charities.
- Information on how to prepare for audit or review
- Answers to those numerous little questions that you don’t want to bother /pay an accountant for advice about.

We also provide Treasurer training!

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is kindly supporting this project by providing space for these clinics. However no information will be shared with DIA without prior consent of the organisation involved.

Enquiries welcome.
