95bFM Presents .. Don Mcglashan - There Goes The Neighbourhood

This November, one of our finest singer/songwriters Don McGlashan takes his songs around Auckland one suburb at a time with ‘There Goes the Neighbourhood’. Be sure to catch Don at your local town centre (or someone else’s!) performing songs from his critically acclaimed recent album Lucky Stars, and beyond. Don is joined by his masterful bandmates for the string of shows, guitarist Tom Rodwell and Phoenix Foundation drummer Chris O’Connor.

A rich collection of personal songs exploring love, regret and mortality, Lucky Stars is already considered to be among Don’s best work. The New Zealand Herald’s Russell Baillie gave the album five stars, deeming the song ‘For Your Touch’ as being “the centrepiece of one terrific record. A personal classic.” Metro commented on “the spine-tingling way he moves from major to minor keys, his keenly observational eye, the thoughtfulness with which his songs are forged”. Blog On The Tracks’ Simon Sweetman named Lucky Stars as “his finest solo record so far. An evocative journey, an almost spiritual calmness guides this record’s songs, they hover – finding their own space – long after first impact.”

Don’s last Auckland show was to a packed-out theatre at the Hopetoun Alpha, a grand affair. These shows offer an altogether different experience - the chance to see one of our country’s greats perform his stirring, kaleidoscopic songs in unique and intimate character settings around suburban Auckland.
