As the executive editor of San Francisco-headquartered McSweeney’s Publishing, Jordan Bass has worked on the editing and design of dozens of books, both fiction and non-fiction, and through McSweeney’s Quarterly has edited Charles Baxter, Wells Tower, Sheila Heti, and Etgar Keret, among hundreds of other notable writers. Five fortunate writers receive a one-on one with Bass, who after reading 20 pages of a novel or work-in-progress will deliver a 20 minute feedback and advice session. Participants will be chosen on the basis of submitted material. Applicants should email their 20 page submission to the Festival offices with “Application: Editor In Residence-Jordan Bass” in the subject line, no later than Friday April 17. Successful applicants will be advised by Monday May 4 and will be allocated a 20-minute afternoon slot at the Aotea Centre in Auckland on Friday May 15. Please note that accepted candidates will be required to deposit the payable fee on acceptance or their place will be forfeited. Fees are non-refundable once paid.

Cost: $75; five participants only.
