Spend the first Sunday of the year down at East St. in the sunshine with great music from two South Island acts.

Podocarp: Podocarp is a 5 piece Band made up of Melissa Hibbert (Vocals and Keys), Steve Fowler (Guitar and Vocals), Jason Northover (Guitar, Keys and Vocals), Jamie Thomson (Bass and Vocals) and Kalem Mallon (Drums)

Rising up from Christchurch Podocarp provides a fusion of soulful Blues beats with a blend of Hip Hop and RnB, through to Rock/Reggae rythyms with percussive grooves.

Collectively conscious and driven by passion Podocarp have been delivering their dynamic sound throughout the South Island 's bars, cafes and festivals over the past two years. Keep an eager eye on the website for their latest music, up to date information and upcoming gigs.

Red Jack Rising EP is available now from the website www.podocarpnz.com as the first installment in a series of upcoming releases leading up to Podocarp's first album due for release in early 2015.

Erin: For the first time, traveling kiwi Singer/Songwriter Erin hits the road with musical accompaniment, in an extensive South Island Summer Tour.

You may have had a taste of the live solo show around the country in the last two years, but with backing from well-seasoned musicians Steve Fowler and Kalem Mallon (Sweetleaf, Podocarp, and Paper Creatures), her unique blend of "Rhythm and Soul" takes on a fresh Folk-Rock flavor; tricky to pin down and unlike any other. Funky bass lines and crashing cymbals enhance catchy, thoughtful lyrics, and simple rhythms are offset by Erin's own distinctive vocal stylings and unfettered creative process. Add a touch of roots, and a pinch of blues, and mix well.. Spanning various genres, tickle your taste-buds with completely original, popular, home-grown talent.

Nelson show features Gloria Grace on Violin.
