Works from the Rotorua Trust Heritage Collection

In 2000, Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust began an art collection for the people of Rotorua to celebrate the importance of the district and preserve the region’s history. In the 15 years since the collection began it has grown to be one of the most significant art records of this regions rich past.

Curated by John Perry in conjunction with Rotorua Museum, this exhibition features highlights from the Trust’s considerable collection of paintings, photographs and prints. Spanning the nineteenth to twenty-first centuries, the exhibition features works by many well-known New Zealand artists including Charles F. Goldie, Charles Blomfield, Theo Schoon and Brian Brake.

Perry has selected works that reflect the changing face of Rotorua since the late 1800s and the people, events and geography that have shaped it. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue of the entire Rotorua Trust Heritage Collection.

Places+Faces, Art+History is on display at Rotorua Museum from 28 October 2015 until 21 February 2016.

Entry to the exhibition is included in Rotorua Museum’s admission price, which is free for Rotorua residents with relevant ID. General Museum admission: Adults $20, seniors $18 and children $8.
