Flamenco is a Spanish art form made up of three parts: guitar playing (“guitarra”), song (“cante”) and dance (“baile”). Flamenco originated from the Gitano peoples in the southern regions of Spain, but it’s thought to be influenced by many world cultures, including Arabic, Latin American and Jewish traditions.

Amira started her Flamenco training with Luis Ramon. He suggested that she teach his beginner classes and mentored her on the path of becoming a teacher. She has been teaching Flamenco dance in Auckland for 20 years. Her philosophy for teaching flamenco is based on a friendly and supportive atmosphere in classes and creating opportunities for students to gain performance experience if they wish.
